Mission Statement
Our kuleana is to honor Hawaiian culture by assisting to mālama cultural-historical
resources within the ahupua`a of Waikahekahe (Nui & Iki) and Kea`au* and through
community education about the history and culture of this area for the benefit of present
and future generations.

Goals and Objectives
1. To advise and assist the HPPOA Board in acting upon the recommendations
identified in the “Archaeological Reconnaissance Survey of 31 Acres” (submitted by
ASM Affiliates and dated September 2024) in order to honor, protect, preserve, and
conserve this significant cultural and historical heritage site.

2. To advise and assist the HPPOA Board in honoring, protecting, preserving, and
conserving cultural and historical resources under the purview of HPPOA.

3. To advise and assist any group tasked with stewarding cultural and historical
resources under the purview of HPPOA.

4. To promote education about Hawaiian history and culture in Hawaiian Paradise Park
by working with the HPPOA Board and other groups and individuals.

considered complete, even within the context of their usage in this document.
Ahupua`a: Land division usually extending from the uplands to the sea
Kuleana: responsibility, right, privilege, concern
Mālama: to take care of, tend, attend, care for, preserve, protect, save, maintain
* This applies to the boundaries of Hawaiian Paradise Park (HPP) within the ahupua`a.
